OUR STORY
Hi! Thank you for dropping by and welcome to our online journal!
Since we’ve been asked so many times about what “Hippusuta” means so maybe it’s a good start to begin the story:
/Hip.pu.su.ta/, you may have to pronounce it “Hipsta”, is a japanese word for “Hipster”. Hipsters were stereotyped as people who hate the mainstream. They have strong interest in handmade, crafting and independent and still have the look of something from the past. But you probably find out very vague when you try to figure out what Hipster actually means. Really, it just came out of our mind when we found this idea. We just feel that it fits with our personality so please don’t judge. Hehe.
We started building our brand in 12 meter squares space, on February 2nd, 2019 in Solo (Nusukan). We really were a first timer back then, zero experience about selling coffee, digital marketing, branding and whatnots. What we knew was..we did our best to serve a good cup of coffee and to share it to you what we like best. Along with our aspiration that keep growing, we forgot that life is about adjusting to changes. Something that we should embrace and learn. Long story short, we moved to our new spot (our current address) in Sukoharjo (Solo Baru) on June 22nd, 2020. We’re getting a little bit bigger but still with the same soul and hopes.
Our addiction to art, design and photography has started since senior high school (never think that running a coffee shop is so much fun! Haha). So we decided to track the journey of our life mostly in building our brand, running a coffee shop, crafts, design and photography through this blog. We’re doing our best to stick to our plans of using this blog more—to actually type out our thoughts and give our photoshots a home to live in—instead of fleeting stories that disappear in 24 hours.
Cheers,
Hip
